For the past 16 years, I have proudly served as a member of the Communications Workers of America. During that time, I have learned that a union is far more than a contract—it is a commitment to standing beside one another through every challenge, every victory, and every fight for fairness.
My journey into leadership began as a Union Steward, where I spent two years representing members, enforcing the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and ensuring every employee had a voice in the workplace. That experience taught me that representation is built on trust, integrity, and the willingness to stand up even when it is difficult.
Today, I have the honor of serving my third year as Executive Vice President of CWA Local 9586, where I continue advocating for the members who have placed their confidence in me. My approach has always been straightforward: lead by example, remain transparent, and never lose sight of why we exist—to serve the membership.
Throughout my time in leadership I have worked to strengthen our local through aggressive contract enforcement, detailed grievance investigations, comprehensive information requests, and a relentless focus on accountability. As the Local 9586 Safety committee chair, I have led efforts to improve working conditions by challenging unsafe equipment, demanding compliance with safety regulations, and ensuring management fulfills its obligation to provide a safe workplace. Whether addressing defective fleet vehicles, improving safety training, or protecting members from unjust discipline. I am proud to now have the opportunity to bring that passion to a bigger stage by now being part of the Southern California Council as the Health and safety Chair for all CWA members of the SoCal region.
I have also worked to modernize the way our Local communicates by improving member outreach, developing educational materials, strengthening digital communication, and encouraging greater transparency between elected officers and the membership. An informed membership is an empowered membership.
To me, union leadership is not measured by titles—it is measured by service. Every grievance investigated, every question answered, every member represented, and every conversation held is an opportunity to strengthen our union.
Looking ahead, my goals are to continue building a Local that is respected by management and trusted by its members. I want to expand steward and member education, strengthen safety programs, mentor future union leaders, increase member engagement, and ensure every member understands both the rights they possess and the power they hold through collective action.
Above all else, I believe the strength of our union comes from solidarity. We succeed when we stand together, support one another, and refuse to allow any member to stand alone.
