Organize, ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE!
The District 9 Telecom Organizing SIF Trainings have kicked off and are proving to be a great success!
Already wireless, prem techs and core techs have attended 4 trainings and are primed to talk about the union difference to non-union workers wherever they bump into them.
9413 held 2 trainings on April 13th and April 15th, and some of the trainees were able to immediately use their training to help sign up the Cricket wireless workers in Reno.
On April 21st, at Local 9510, 20 members from 9510, 9509 and 9511 came together to learn about why union density makes a difference in contract negotiations and learned the basics of approaching non-union wireless and cable workers to get organizing leads.
The next day, on April 22nd, at Local 9423, members from 9423 and 9412 also went through the 4 hours training, and 2 of the trainees already are following up with workers they know who are non-union.
Trainings are still being scheduled across District 9. Our goal is to train 100 mobility members and 200 Prem Techs and other technicians to make sure that while we are supporting the two sides of the CWA triangle, representation and mobilization, we don’t forget the critical side organizing plays.
For more information on when training will be conducted in your area, contact your Local.
