CWA-AT&T Mobility Bargaining Report #8, Wednesday, January 30, 2013
Bargaining resumed today with the Union rejecting the Company’s outrageous proposal on Article 21-Absence. In case you forgot what the Company proposed, it was to eliminate all paid sick time. In response to the Union’s rejection of this proposal, the Company passed a modification to their original proposal on paid sick time. The modification would place additional restrictions on employees paid time off based on their hire date in addition to increasing the waiting period and capping the number of days one would get paid depending on their hire date.
The Union presented proposals on Article 21-Absences and Article 22-Vacations; both to address improvements to the existing language. A proposal on Letter of Agreement 14-Alliance was also passed to strengthen the language regarding employee growth and development.
Our contract expires at midnight on Saturday, February 9, 2013 and there has been little to no progress made. It’s important for everyone to be engaged in mobilization. Send a clear message through your manager by telling them we expect AT&T Mobility to bargain a fair contract. If enough of you go to you manager and tell them tell the company to start bargaining, we will hear about it at the bargaining table. We want to hear about it tomorrow. Also check with your Locals on what mobilization activities are taking place in your area.
Bargaining resumes Thursday, January 31, 2013.
