We're Celebrating Black History! CWA Leader Profile: Maurice ‘Mo’ Washington

Maurice is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana.  He is married to his beautiful soul mate, Margaux.  Born and raised in the south during the Civil Rights Era, Maurice was no stranger to Racial Injustice.  His experiences gave him the passion, resolve, and the fire to conquer injustice.  Not just racial, but in all aspects of society.

A veteran, Maurice served his country proudly in the Air Force for 10 years.  He also served as a Police Officer in the LAPD.  Maurice joined CWA over 20 years ago, becoming a Steward and rising to the rank of President of CWA Local 9400, in one the largest private sector Local’s in CWA.  Maurice has held every position in the Local except for Secretary Treasurer.  Maurice is a graduate of the CWA Minority Leadership Institute.  Never straying from his passion for human justice, Maurice sits at the helm or on the board of several Human Rights Organizations.  It is his contagious commitment and leadership that led him to be elected President of the CWA Minority Caucus.

As far as Maurice is concerned, he is just getting started.  Our Union owes a debt of gratitude to Leaders like Maurice.  We salute you, Brother Mo!

During Black History Month, CWA District 9 will profile CWA leaders.  We salute and thank President Washington for his years of service to CWA members and the labor movement!
