AT&T Bargaining Bulletin #16
April 10, 2024
We met formally with the company today, and after weeks and weeks of bargaining medical, this is the first agreement of significance that we can proudly announce has occurred. We were able to keep Kaiser, without deductibles as an option, and we got rid of the two-tier medical system, which means all members will have the same medical cost options regardless of your hire date. This is the first major item that we have agreed to and since we have finally come to a resolution on this topic it has shown us that we're moving in the right direction to an agreement that benefits our members.
We still have some huge outstanding items out there and were working diligently to get these things done. The scope of work movement from App A to App E is still on the table and the current situation is this; they want to move the work from one of the highest paid titles in the contract to the lowest paid. In the proposal, they have included MLK as a holiday and have augmented some contractual language around changing hours (E1.03b) in the proposal and they have offered minimal money for this move. These are the only Appendix E items that they have presented to the bargaining team as items they are willing to give; and with that they are saying the Premise Techician can’t have them unless we are willing to trade the scope of work for it. We would like to reiterate that this bargaining team has continued to communicate to the company that we need to improve Appendix E and we are steadfast at doing so without scope of work moving.
The company is still refusing to agree to contribute to your pension each year. The company still wants to pay you way less if you were to be laid off. The company still thinks you’re only worth a 2% raise a year, which doesn’t even equal a dollar an hour.
As a reminder, the district is conducting a strike vote, please contact your local if you have any questions.
