Contract Ratification Process for Orange Mobility
As in the past, the ratification process will be conducted from a single location. This time we will be utilizing a company called BallotPoint Election Services which also has been utilized by AFA-CWA, District 3 and during the Piedmont customer service elections.
In this process, instead of receiving a paper ballot along with information on the tentative agreement, members will receive the tentative agreement summary and instructions on how to vote by via computer or phone. A VIN number will be included in the instructions. After a member enters their VIN number, the system will them give them their own unique and secret PIN number. With this PIN number the member will be able to cast their vote, go back into the website if they wish to review the tentative agreement which will be posted there, confirm they have voted, or even change their vote if they choose to do so.
One observer from each of the CWA Districts under the Orange contract will be able to witness the ratification process including the list of voters and the tabulation of those votes via webinar. Each local will be sent their individual totals.
Following are the key dates in the ratification process:
March 18, 2013 --- Last date that locals will be able to make any changes or corrections to their membership list before the ratification instructions are mailed to members. Corrections should be made using the online MLO-169 which may be accessed at locals.cwa-union.org and selecting the MLO menu item on the blue bar. Locals also may make corrections through Orion (if already trained) or through MUMS, (if still a MUMS user).
March 22, 2013 --- Ratification instructions, which will include the summary of the tentative agreement and VIN number, will be mailed to the members.
April 1, 2013 --- If a member does not receive instructions by this date, they should be instructed to call (202) 434-1227 to leave a message including their name, local number and phone number. They will then be called back and provided with the required information in order to vote.
April 3, 2013 --- This is the deadline for locals to provide new member information that wasn’t available by March 18, 2013. Locals should e-mail the information to: mobilityorange@cwa-union.org including the name, home address and phone number where the member can be reached. The member will then be called and provided with the required information in order to vote.
April 5, 2013 --- Ratification voting will close at 12:59 p.m. EDT and the ratification process will begin at 1 p.m. EDT. Results will be announced by 5 p.m. EDT or shortly after the process concludes.
