CWA-AT&T Mobility Bargaining Report #12, Sunday, February 3, 2013
Bargaining resumed today for yet another non-eventful session with the Company. The Company came in with a well rehearsed version of R-E-J-E-C-T. I’m sure Aretha Franklin would have been proud of them.
The Company wasted no time rejecting our proposals on the New Letter of Agreement on Domestic Violence; New Letter of Agreement on Tour Sliding; Article 14-Force Adjustment, specific to severance pay and Article 16-Safety. The Company actually stated they were opposed to providing the necessary safety equipment that you as the employee need to perform your job. Hard to believe but they really did.
The Union rejected the Company’s proposal on Article 7-Grievance Procedure which would have reduced the grievance process from a three (3) step process to a two (2) step process. The Company thought removing the extra step would eliminate the delays in processing your grievances. So that we’re clear, they aren’t worried about providing you with the equipment to do your job safely but they want to make sure saying no to your grievance quicker is a priority. Makes sense right?
Please check with your Locals about the strike votes taking place. It’s important that the bargaining committee has your support as we near the contract expiration on Saturday, February 9th.
Bargaining resumes Monday, February 4, 2013.
