CWA Members Protest Changes in the Mobility Attendance Policy.
On May 1, 2015, CWA members all across the nation protested the new AT&T Mobility Attendance Plan. Members participated in work place actions and public informational pickets from coast to coast. The new attendance plan severely reduces the number of days an employee can be out sick before being terminated. The Union requested to bargain these changes with the employer; however, they refused and implemented the changes on May 1, 2015 in violation of the contract.
In response, CWA members vowed to "Keep Healthy" at work by wearing gloves or face masks to help keep themselves from getting sick. Many believe working with the public and sharing display phone, tablets and other accessories can greatly increase your risk on illness. Even the public was educated about this new plan and some chose to get involved and speak out in support of the workers. Grievances have filed and will continue to be filed over this issue.
