Delta | The Flight Attendant Union

November 1, 2019

Dear Delta Flight Attendants,

We’ve heard from thousands of Flight Attendants at Delta Air Lines asking for AFA’s help in gaining union representation with our Flight Attendant union.

Today, we’re excited to put the full resources of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA) behind you as you work to achieve your goal of representation at Delta. You are the heart of Delta Air Lines and your contributions to the airline’s success deserve full recognition with the best Flight Attendant contract in the industry.

Learn more about our campaign at DeltaAFA.org. Sign up for a Town Hall phone call on Tuesday, November 5th at 7 pm eastern.

This is more than a card drive. We can work together now to make a difference on the issues that matter to you. The way we support each other can help address issues from toxic uniforms to clean air on our planes or real support for Flight Attendants after responding to a critical incident. AFA is the Flight Attendant union, and we’re excited to work alongside you to lift our careers as aviation’s first responders.

Over recent years, you have helped Delta thrive. The airline has earned nearly double the profits of other U.S. airlines in recent years, but an MIT study for Flight Attendant total compensation shows that your wages, benefits, and profit sharing on average was $14,000 less than United Airlines Flight Attendants last year. We know from negotiations that Delta pays $100 million less in annual Flight Attendant costs than the same size operation at United. Delta is the industry leader by far and your pay, benefits and work rules should be codified in an industry-leading contract just like management has for themselves.

You are and have always been a part of our Flight Attendant union family. AFA is not an institution. It’s the hearts and souls of the professionals who are our flying partners. Flight Attendants from all twenty airlines with AFA representation support you and will be a part of this campaign to drive to a successful vote and negotiations at Delta.

We’re thrilled to launch this campaign and stand beside you in our work as aviation's first responders every day.

In solidarity,

Sara Nelson, AFA International President
Debora Sutor, AFA International Vice President
Kevin Creighan, AFA International Secretary-Treasurer
