      1. AB 67 (Gonzalez): Double Time on Holidays:

    AB 67 guarantees that employees are fairly compensated for the undue hardships associated with working on the traditional family holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Click here to download.

     

    1. AB 219 (Daly): Concrete Delivery

    Ensure public money goes to create good jobs. Too many companies receive tax breaks and state contracts create low-wage jobs where workers have to rely on public benefits. That means taxpayers are subsidizing these major corporation not once but twice! We will work to ensure that state funds are invested in good jobs that rebuild our middle class and revitalize our economy. AB 219 (Daly) will close a loophole in prevailing wage law to cover ready mix drivers on public works projects. 

     

    1. AB 465 (Hernández): Forced Waiver of Worker’s Rights

    The bill will ensure that waivers of important employment rights and procedures arising under California law are made voluntary and with the consent of the employee.  Click here to download.

     

    1. AB 708 (Jones-Sawyer): Cleaning Product Right to Know Act

    AB 708 requires ingredients disclosure on both product labels and Internet Web sites for most kinds of cleaning products sold to consumers and businesses.  It would not require the concentrations of these ingredients to be disclosed.  Click here to download.

     

    1. AB 908 (Gomez): Strengthening Paid Family Leave for All Families

    AB 908 will raise the wage replacement rate from 55% to 65-80%, depending on income, and extend family leave benefits four additional weeks, providing economic security for families during a precious, vulnerable, and financially stressful time.  AB 908 will allow workers to concentrate on what matters most – bonding with a new baby or caring for a seriously ill loved one – without risking severe financial hardship.  Click here to download.

     

    1. AB 1509 (Hernández): Strengthening Protections Against Retaliation

    AB 1509 will strengthen California’s critical employment retaliation provisions in two ways: (1) provides that an employer shall not retaliate against and employee because the employee is a family member of the person who has engaged in protected activity and (2) provides that prohibitions against retaliation apply to a “client employer” or a “controlling employer.”  Click here to download.

      

          7. SB 48 (Hill): Governance, Accountability, and Transparency at the California Public Utilities Commission

      SB 48 would reform the CPUC’s governance structure, more clearly outlining the roles and responsibilities of Commissioners and staff, and it would end loopholes that allow regulated utilities to influence CPUC Commissioners outside the public eye.  Click here to download.


      1. SB 215 (Leno): California Public Utilities Commission Reform

      SB 215 will bring much needed reform to the operation of the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) by modify the powers of the President, create new standards and a process for considering whether a Commissioner should be recused for bias or prejudice, and set new rules for ex parte communications between CPUC regulators and the companies they regulate.  Click here to download.

       

      1. SB 358 (Jackson): California Fair Pay Act

      The California Fair Pay Act will strengthen the state’s existing equal pay laws by eliminating loopholes that prevent effective enforcement and by empowering employees to discuss their pay without fear of retaliation.  Click here to download.

       

      1. SB 406 (Jackson): Expanding Access to Family Leave

      SB 406 would help more employees will be able to use their Paid Family Leave benefits without fear of losing their job through an expansion of the California Family Rights Act, by expanding the types of seriously ill family member an employee is permitted to provide job protected care for and lowers the employer size threshold to include any employer who directly employs 5 or more persons (the same threshold for Pregnancy Disability Leave).  Click here to download.

       

      1.  SB 546 (Leno): Transparency and Rate Approval for Large Group  Health Insurance

       SB 546 will protect employers and workers from unfair healthcare premiums by requiring insurance providers to justify rate increases in the large group market.  It provides employers with more than 50 employees and union trust funds a mechanism to ensure that health plan premiums are reasonable and justified by their insurance providers.  Click here to download.
