History made!

With you at our side, we made history today.

This morning the Los Angeles City Council voted 13-1 to officially raise the wage to $15. This is nothing short of historic. Historic for our city. Historic for the economic equality movement. And historic for full-time workers and their families who live on poverty wages. We couldn't have done it without you.  And we can't thank you enough.

This is your victory. This is our time to celebrate.

In solidarity,

Fasting to End Retaliation

Last month, Walmart closed 5 stores in 4 states nationwide, giving workers only hours notice. These closings impacted over 2,000 workers who were told there was no guarantee they would be transferred or maintain their pay and hours. In Los Angeles, many have still not been transferred despite the 40 Walmart stores within a 20 mile radius of the Pico Rivera store.

Last week, 30 workers fasted for 24 hours with OUR Walmart Southern California and marched in solidarity through downtown Los Angeles to demand justice for all Walmart workers who have been affected by Walmart's broken promises. The march ended with a sit-in action outside the Walmart Chinatown store.

25 Years Later: Janitor Mega March

It's been 25 years since janitors in Los Angeles started to stand up for fair wages with a peaceful protest that became marred by police brutality. Hundreds of striking janitors in Century City stared down 50 officers wielding batons that day, but they refused to back down.

Join us on June 18 as we commemorate this day, “Dia del Janitor,” with a march in remembrance of the brave protestors who stood up for a decent living. The fight continues today. We march for a better future!
