Rally to demand Congressman Scott Peters take a stand
On May 6, the San Diego Coalition to Stop Fast Track held a quick rally and then turned in almost 300 letters to the district staff of Congressman Scott Peters to demand he takes a stand against Fast Track. The staff informed us that he is still undecided but will be reading carefully the Fast Track bill. Different participants read letters written by his constituents including Salomon Espinoza from CWA 9509. The office staff gave everyone a sheet with the environmental work that he has done but the environmental activists pushed back that it will be meaningless if the TPP passes and those laws can be overturned. Organizations present: Citizens Trade, Sierra Club, Food and Water Watch, San Diego 350, Environmental Health coalition, IBEW, Machinist, CWA 9509, San Diego Labor Council, and USW.
