Where are the chairs?

CWA has won an arbitration finding that AT&T Mobility violated our contract when it removed all of the chairs from our stores without bargaining over the change with the union.  AT&T Mobility management continues to argue and delay- so we still have no chairs.

The State of California Labor and Workforce Developement Agency has a requirement for employers to provide seating for retail workes- and it provides for fines and penalities when the employer does not provide chairs.  The penalties are substantial, especially because there are so many of us around the state without chairs.  We estimate that AT&T will be on the hook for about $15 million per year, and under the law 25% of the penalties can go to the employees who have been denied seating.

Join the fight for our rights on the job.  We need information about which stores still don't have chairs and where the violations are.  Together, we can win the fight for seating in our stores.  We can also show upper-level management that we are willing to stand up (but we would rather sit down) for our rights at work.  We don't have to tolerate working conditions that are so bad they're against the law.
